We are already ONE month into 2019. WHAT?! Time is flying by already! And it’s time to get real about goal setting + dream chasing for the new year. I believe writing them down + reading them over again reminds me to keep hustling and striving for them! I wanted to share them with you too.

My Top 5 Goals for 2019

1. Host a styled shoot

Never heard of a styled shoot? Let me elaborate! It’s a collaboration between creatives + vendors who put together a mock event to showcase their talents and ideas in new and exciting ways. It is great for portfolios and all participants can benefit from the event. Not only does it create meaningful relationships within the industry, it allows you to show clients what you can create + what your vision for their big events looks like. I’ll share more about what my DREAM vision would be in a later post. If you are a local photographer, creative or vendor also looking for collaborative opportunities – send me an email using the contact form! I’d love to chat + help you pursue your dreams, too!

2. Write More

Honesty hour. Writing intimidates me. So why I am trying to create a blog? Good question. You hear time and time again, “Growth comes from outside of the comfort zone,” + you’ll see me testing that theory this year.  Just because I am nervous to put my words and thoughts out there, isn’t enough to make me stop.  Blogging is key to a successful business — and I hope I am able to connect with clients, photographers, + other creatives by sharing my stories, my sessions + being real about what matters to me, both personally + professionally. I hope to look back at my goals next January to see improvement in my confidence, story telling + {hopefully} vocabulary.

3. Read one book per month

I’ve had this goal before + each years tends to trail off and never complete it. I don’t know what book to read next or I tell myself, I simply just don’t have the time. Anyone else? Not this year! I am  setting myself up for success by creating a reading list and guess what? I have already checked off MONTH ONE and I am motivated. My reading list consists of mainly business related books for 2019 but I love investing in myself + my business. By creating a solid foundation + good practices from the beginning ensures me that I am building a business that is built to last. Here’s a few books I have queued up in my Kindle for the first quarter:

January: You’re Best Year Ever by Michael Hyatt

February: Quitter by Jon Acuff

March: Start With Why by Simon Sinek

I also enjoy reading true crime, mystery + a good romance novel as well. What are you reading this year?

4. Designate one day a week to continuing education

I highly believe in investing in yourself + your business, regardless of the stage or phase that you are in. Last year, I watched all of the free videos, read every freebie + downloaded each guide I would come across. Education is KEY. It instills a certain kind of confidence within you as a creative business owner, knowing you are able to tackle anything that comes your way. The amount on information I learned from these resources are absolutely invaluable. I learned the basic mechanics of a camera, how to shoot in all lighting situations, how to communicate professionally, and more. Seriously! So it is a goal of mine to never lose that student-like mindset + to always keep searching, keep reading, and keep growing.

Some of my favorite educators include: Amy + Jordan, Hope Taylor, and Justin + Mary. They put out some GREAT content. If you are looking to invest in courses, feel free to reach out to me + I can give you some personal testimonies on each. I will personally be enrolling in the AJ Business Course this spring. Hope has created a new weekly vlog series called #HappyHourWithHope. And Justin + Mary just released their Built To Last Summit recording here, which I attended live!

5. Book FIVE Weddings

And lastly, to be honored + humbled to work with five special couples on their wedding days. All of the reading, the resources, the writing… all comes down to this. Preparing myself to best serve my clients by doing what I love. I genuinely enjoy connecting with couples + capturing their moments. But I am here to create more than just a pretty photo, I am here to build a legacy for you + your loved ones to look back on for years to come.

Thank you for taking the time to read + joining me today! Have you written out your goals for the year yet? Share them with me, I’m cheering you on!  <3

Cheers,

Tricia
