If you read my previous post about my goals for 2019, you’ll remember one of my top goals for the year was to start blogging & to continue sharing. And when I started planning these posts, I realized, I want to share more than just my business & photography work with you all. I want to write about my other passions + my every day life, as well.
So today, I hope you’ll join me for
a weekend recap
of our adventure to the
Red River Gorge!
We booked a room at our wedding venue this weekend to celebrate Valentine’s Day & really finalize some plans for our destination wedding this spring. On the actual Valentine’s Day, we ate oven baked pizza & watched Game of Thrones. We’re quite the romantics, right? 🙂 So we drove up late Friday night & found roses in the room… a sweet gift from the venue! And we woke up to a beautiful, snow covered mountain that I could not wait to get out in and enjoy. Snow is a photographer’s dream to shoot in! Or is that just me? Ha!
The cabin served us breakfast & coffee before we started our day. We love the sense of adventure that the RRG has to offer & it begins as soon as you step out the back door. The views from our cabin alone are breath taking. Zack helped me with some new portraits as we were scouting for photo locations. I’d love to meet up with other couples in the area to shoot their adventure portraits or epic elopements in the area, but we were also notating spots for our own wedding. These backdrops are going to be incredible!
If you are interested in an adventure portrait session in the Red River Gorge, let’s chat!
We shot until we couldn’t feel our toes anymore & went back inside to warm up. Every time we visit, we generally camp in the Gorge, so it was a change of pace to have a room. Our go-to camping site is off of a trail, and though we have camped there many times, we have never actually been to the end of the trail to see what view it had to offer. We made that a goal this time + enjoyed every bit of it – especially all of the friendly pups who were also there to visit for the day.
When we finished the hike, we came back + settled in for some REAL planning. We made a lot of progress and are so thankful we set aside this time for it. Also – shout out to all the wedding planners out there – I didn’t realize how many little details there are to think about! We did not hire one for our wedding, but we admire all that you do!
I hope you enjoy some of the photos from the weekend below.
 XO,
Tricia
