Last week, we were lucky enough to have some time off between weddings and work to enjoy a beach getaway. We were able to see my family, relax and eat LOTS of good seafood!

We woke up early on Saturday morning to start the 10 hour drive to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I planned our start time around the opening of Starbucks… because we just love our Iced Coffees and what’s a better way to start out vacation!? Unfortunately for us, I read the opening time wrong the night before so we got there and they were still closed. Minor oversight, but we kept going. We stopped an hour down the road and got our fill 🙂

We got to the beach with enough time to take our bags upstairs, change and meet my momma & lisa on the beach for some sun. I could have stayed out there all evening, with our chairs sinking into the sand as the waves rolled over our feet BUT seafood was calling us! Mom introduced us to a little tavern down the street that had the BEST seafood platters. Give me all the shrimp & crab legs!!

Our time together never seems long enough, but I’m glad our vacation overlapped with my momma’s too. She left the next morning but I wish she could have enjoyed the whole week with us!

The rest of time at the beach looked a lot like this:

8AM – Wake up & make coffee. Because our brain won’t let us sleep in anymore.

9AM – Breakfast. Eggs & cereal are the way to go! Zack rocked out some homework here, too.

9:30AM – Apply sunscreen. Nothing less than Waterproof SPF 50+

10AM – BEACH. We packed up everything from chairs, umbrellas, lunches, and margs! We didn’t want to have to come back upstairs until we were done for the day.

12PM – Build trench in the sand. This seemed easier than moving all of our stuff back away from the appending high tide. Plus, all the kids were doing it – they even lent us their shovel.

1PM – Reapply sunscreen. Set hourly alarms to ensure you don’t forget to reapply. #paleskinlife

6PM – Move to pool area. Relax in Lazy River until sleepy, then move to hot tub.

7PM – Dinner. Pizza, wings, seafood – you name it, we had it all. We’re on vacation, so why not?

8PM – Watch Stranger Things 3. With the lights on and a bag of popcorn.

9PM – Patio Sitting. There were so many people still putting on firework shows so we enjoyed the view and Zack would light up his cigar.

Rinse & Repeat. We enjoyed all of the relaxation and finished the new season on Netflix. We also read a bunch! I finished my SSDGM book & finished an audio recording of the Quitter by Jon Acuff.

(Can you tell I like timelines? I create a custom one for every wedding couple & their special day, as well!)

We planned to come home after a few days to make it to one of our favorite Louisville music festivals, Forecastle at the Waterfront Park. Our favorite bands this year were Judah & the Lion and Portugal, the Man. But we always find new music we weren’t aware of before! I loved the set by Chromeo as well!

I brought my camera with me (as always!) but never took a SINGLE photo with it. I’m low-key bummed but I took relaxation to the extreme this year. So here are the very few iPhone quality photos of our vacation.

I’m gearing up for some fun sessions in the next two weeks and cannot wait to share more! If you’re planning a vacation this year, where are you going?
