A BJJ Oklahoma Wedding
I LOVE when couples find ways to incorporate their own personalities into the wedding day. And Ashley and Jeff did that in every element of their Oklahoma Wedding day! From the venue, to the ceremony, to the “first dance”… it was so uniquely them <3
Ashley and Jeff met at a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) gym in Lawton, Oklahoma. My husband shares the same love for the sport and joined their gym while he was out here training. For their wedding, they wanted a small, intimate day surrounded by their closest friends and family members in the place that meant the most to them… the gym!
The little details of the day made my heart happy.
All of the men were dressed in their black gis and the women were dressed in white. They sat alongside each other to create an aisle for the bride and couple to walk down. And the gym floor mats were lined with all of the rest of the guests to watch their loved ones get married!
Instead of exchanging a set of rings during the ceremony, they tied each others purple belts. Their belts, much like a ring, also creates an unbroken and never ending circle that symbolizes a commitment of love that is also never ending. My heart!!! Such a sweet sentiment!
And then traditionally, a couple would want to share a first dance together as they get the reception started… but when you’re in a BJJ gym, you do what you do best and roll!! These two were all smiles as they shared a first roll as husband and wife on the mat.
It was both sweet and amazing to see two athletes make this wedding day their own! I definitely teared up a few times 🙂
Ashley and Jeff, thank you for having me to document your day! I hope your love story continues to stay as unique and as special as your wedding day was for you. It was a joy to be a part of!
