I received my first Stitch Fix this week! YAY! This company is a subscription service that styles and sends you new outfits – straight to your home! No need to go to the mall, try on jeans from every store and then stand in line to check out. It really takes the hassle out of shopping.

‘Cause if you’re like me, you hate going to the mall. Maybe it was all of my years in retail but I always dread shopping because I never know what will look good, how to put outfits together and the part I hate the most – trying to find something in the right size. It becomes discouraging, ya know? So like other parts of my business – I decide to outsource it!

SHORT REVIEW:

Pros:

  • Very thorough review of your size and style before ordering
  • Helps you expand closet and style
  • Quality was incredible and the sweaters are SO SOFT
  • Delivery frequency can be changed at any time
  • Variety of clothes in my first box
  • Checkout and feedback process was easy
  • Free returns for clothes you don’t want to keep

Cons

  • That I can’t just have them refresh my entire closet at once, haha!

I really don’t have anything bad to say about the process. It was fun, easy and thorough. Returning is a breeze. Pricing was about $30-$55 per item in my box, but you specify your budget to your stylist before you order, so this was about expected. I’m incredibly happy with this purchase! MORE DETAILS

What I loved about their website is that you didn’t just plug in your sizes and click submit. It leads you through series of questions and photos to get a good sense of what you would like and would fit into. I usually wear leggings and sweatshirts so I got nervous when they asked me for my jeans size.

My initial thought was “well, at J. Crew I’m a 2 but at Target, I’m closer to a 4. Then at Express, I can kind of fit a 2 but the waist is just…ugh.”

Sound familiar to you too?

But then they continue to ask questions like…

  • how’s the waist?
  • and the hips?
  • are jeans usually too long for you? too short?

Like they were REALLY trying to figure out what would be best for me! All styles are so different. And I really think that paired with the Pinterest Styled recommendation boards you could select from really helped them pick the best clothes for me. In addition, you can also choose to say “I need help expanding my closest with styles I never would put together!”

ARE YOU SPEAKING DIRECTLY TO ME? HI, YES THAT’S ME!

My box came in this weekend with a fun variety of sweaters, jeans and casual tops.

They do offer a 25% discount if you purchase the full box but I wasn’t in love with two tops I was given, so I didn’t take advantage of that sweet deal this time. And that’s totally fine because I still got three new pieces for my closest – including pants that fit! Of course I kept the gray sweater and I get to ship everything else back for free.

You checkout online by logging into your account. They ask for feedback on each item, and again, ask very specific questions such as…

  • Was the torso too long?
  • Too big/small on the shoulders?
  • What about arm length?
  • etc…

Then they are able to use those responses for your next scheduled styling fix! I really appreciate that they take this into consideration. From what I hear from others who use Stitch Fix stylists, is that after they get a little bit of feedback, their personal stylist begins to know them SO WELL that they never feel the need to send anything back! They receive perfectly curated clothes in every delivery. I can’t wait to get to that point!

If you are interested in trying out your own Stitch Fix, use this link for a $100 credit towards your first box! For reference, my first box was $150 for five pieces of clothing. They offer clothing for men, women and even kids 🙂

There’s a few photos of my styled box below. I decided to keep the jeans and two sweaters and was surprised by the quality and softness of them. But I did return the cardigan and printed shirt. The shirt would have been good for the office but it was really thin and much longer than I would have liked. The cardigan was soft and beautiful but my current closest didn’t have much to match it. I may regret sending that one back honestly! The details and criss cross design were really cute!

I’m excited for my next fix! You can choose when you’d like to receive them but for now, I chose a monthly option. You can also decide every other month or every three months if you don’t need new clothes as often.

I didn’t write it on my goals list of 2019 but something Zack and I have talked a lot about how we wanted to upgrade our closets this year. We are going to sign him up for his own fix here soon!
